Thanks for supporting the Veterans Museum Educational Program

Hudson Reporter Publications - 7/6/2017

To the Editor:

On behalf of all officers and members of our World War I Historical Joyce-Herbert VFW Post 226 and Veterans Museum, I would like to thank Dr. Patricia L. McGeehan, Ed.D., for supporting our 97-1/2 year veterans post, museum, Memorial Day Parades, and our veterans. For without our Bayonne Superintendent McGeehan’s support, our young students would not have had the opportunity to learn about Bayonne’s rich patriotic history for our beloved country during wartime and peacetime. Dr. McGeehan is responsible for over 8,000 students’ education being enhanced by our museum program. Dr. McGeehan initiated and saw to its fruition the successful programs of: “Field of Heroes,” “Buddy Poppy,” and “Red, White, and Blue,” amongst our many important veterans’ programs throughout the year. Dr. McGeehan was instrumental in the annual Veterans Thanksgiving Dinner and recent May Veterans Picnic at the Bayonne High School Culinary Institute, where our veterans enjoyed home-cooked meals made by our Bayonne High School students.

Our students, teachers, veterans, and our community, have all made a difference by participating in the programs initiated and promoted by our most dedicated Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Patricia L. McGeehan. We will never forget Dr. McGeehan’s dedication to our veterans throughout the years. Not only did she help our children in our hometown, Dr. McGeehan played a big part in helping our veterans speak to our children about their experiences and sacrifices they made for our freedoms we enjoy today. We will be honored to have Dr. McGeehan’s presence in all our future activities, parades, and programs.

Dr. McGeehan, we thank you and respect you for all you have done for our veterans and educating Bayonne’s youth, our future leaders, on our history!
