Veterans' celebration planned at Fort Laurens

Fort Laurens, 11067 Fort Laurens Road, Bolivar, will honor veterans with a ceremony, lunch and presentation from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.Nov. 12.

A wreath-laying ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. at the Tomb of the Unknown Patriot of the American Revolution. Local reenactors from the Brigade of the American Revolution will perform a gun salute with the Fort Laurens American Legion acting as color guard.

After the ceremony, veterans and their families are invited to a lunch hosted by Marty and Marcia Zawacky on behalf of the Friends of Fort Laurens in the museum.

Bruno Cabanes, of Ohio State University will present "Mass Death and the Emotional History of World War 1" at 1 p.m. Cabanes is the chair for modern military history at OSU and previously taught for nine years at Yale University.
